Mother Nature can take a hike, if she can find her snowshoes
I see it's been a week and a half since I updated here. I guess I'll just have to post some pictures then.
One week ago today, Tuesday, it rained really hard and almost every bit of snow was gone. Overnight, as the temperatures dropped, the rain turned to a thick coating of ice on the roads. Then very dry snow came down and was constantly being moved by winds up to 50 mph.
For some reason I thought driving 30 miles to work on Wednesday morning was a good idea. I leave the house at 6 am and it's like night out. The dark, combined with total white-outs, on top of the ice, made my drive a living hell. How I made it without an accident or going in the ditch is something for which I should thank my lucky stars.
Anyway, I decide to snap a few pics after I got home. You can kind of see how the snow drifted. Some places it's still bare and in some it was up to my knees.
You can see my boot prints in the path I dug out for myself. Oh, and the garage that needs a paint job. :-)
Check out how it stuck on the fence and chairs, but it's right down to the bricks below.
I would've liked a better angle on this shot, but I was too chicken to crouch down in the snow. That drift was up to my knees.
Just another angle from the safety and warmth of my living room.
The storm even tried to coat my door. :-)
We had rain yesterday, taking the snow down some, but not all the way. Now they're talking big snow for tomorrow again. Can we just skip weather on Wednesdays???

Remember: It isn't nice to fool....Mother Nature.
*thunder*
As for me, I can't believe it's not butta.
Snow. Ew. But...it's the only exercise I'm getting right now, so I guess I should just go with it.
Mr B, it actually did thunder yesterday when we had some heavy rain. Of course, yesterday's rain didn't take away as much snow as last week's did. And be careful what you do with that butta!
Bucky, I know you'd much rather be raking leaves. :-)
I think we start it down here and let it grow a few fold before it reahes yous guys.
Yous welcome.
I love how blown snow looks like sand dunes.
Mr B, maybe that's so. We were having "wintry mix" on my way home. And they're talking about a bunch more snow. :-(
Ern, I do too. I found out a few years ago that there's a word for that, sastrugi. That only describes snow, though, not sand.
Next time will you stay home and warm with hot chocolate? Great pictures of how the rain/ice/snow stuck to things!
Brrrrrrr...you need a cat to keep you warm.
I love the photo of the snow on the fence. I always like how snow makes rounded shapes on things that are usually very straight.
Your drive into work sounded really hairy and scary! Be careful, Squirly dear - we want you safe and sound. :-)
It's very pretty. You have a red door! In my mind, I have a red door. But somehow that hasn't made the paint appear on it yet. Maybe in the spring.
Be careful out there!
Die, Winter. DIE!
I mean, it's okay up in the hills and all because it's fun to ski on, but I'm about sick of it on my driveway.
i love love LOVE snow. it's the best part of winter. white and tingly. good stuff.
We've had a real yo-yo winter too. One day it's +30F, the next day it's -20F.
Thank God we haven't had any freezing rain this winter...yet!
I kind of miss Midwestern snow drifts. Wait, wait... It's over now.
Jenski, sounds good. I did leave early today as it was getting pretty bad out. I still am able to work, though, so my boss doesn't mind.
Kranki, sounds nice. But I would have to choose between a cat and Ichabod as he's deathly allergic. I'll just have to make him cuddle, I guess. ;-)
Danielle, I saw the most gorgeous potential pictures of the trees on the side of the highway coated in snow. But there's no place to stop and I wasn't going to anything but go straight on the icy road. Thanks!
Susie, I hope you can have a red door for spring. Yeah, this stuff is pretty if you can just sit inside and look at it. :-)
Eclectic, I just barely got in my driveway today. It angles up, sharply, from the road. Ugh!
lmlb, I could do very well with no snow at all. I guess someone has to like it. :-)
tshsmom, we must just get your weather, more or less, a day or two later. I'm really ready for it to be done. Right now I'm sitting watching near white-outs happening outside.
Courtney, didn't take long, did it?
I'm spending the night in the office on the couch just up from my cube. Bring me fresh underpants?
No, bring ME fresh underpants.
Wait, how did Squirrrrrrly get to be the purveyor of fresh underpants??
Chia, I won't be back in the office until Friday. Are you good until then?
Susie, it might take me a little longer to get over to your place. Just don't have any brainy ideas until I get there.
Eclectic, you see, I have a connection with the underpants gnomes...
Yikes. You guys are getting everything we got last week. Yuckie..
Last week it went from raining and lightening and thunder to snowing withing seconds.. It was funny to hear.
Oooh, a red door! Very nice.
I love the snow, if I don't have to drive in it. Ice, not so much. My brother got a foot of snow yesterday, while all we had was wind and rain. I was jealous!
I'd make you bring me fresh underpants, but really...what's the point?
"Squirl, Purveyor of Fresh Undies"
Who knew?
(No snow here this year. Yet.)
Tweetie, stop sending it! Just kidding. We're getting the arctic front thing now. The snow's really going again. We had the thunder here, too.
KC, Hi! I like my front door, too. That red looks good with the light gray siding. I don't like snow because it won't just stay on the grass and trees. It has to get on the streets and my car. If I didn't have to be in it I'd think it was pretty, too.
Bucky, it matters a lot to those of us who get within smelling distance. ;-)
htgt, I try to help where I can. hee hee You guys haven't had any snow at all? Lucky.
Squirl, I am so tired of the crazy weather: 50 degrees one day and 20 degrees the next.
It has stopped for the time being here... But now its just plain cold and I am ready for spring now. Please send some pretty warm weather with some of your very beautiful flowers we look at each year.. Or at least we did last year..
DUCK, we're sending cold weather your way!
It was -37F last night. :(
Nick, I know you're in the south, but right now 20 degrees sounds like a heat wave. We've been mostly in the single digits the last couple of days, getting up to about 14.
Tweety, we've had cold and, today, a bunch more snow. Let me see what flowers I can pull up from the archives. :-)
tshsmom, I'm saying Uncle. I've had it with winter this year. I really don't want that kind of cold. brrrrr
