Time for some pretty colors

I've been in training today, Thursday, and will be again on Friday. I thought I'd have time to catch up on everyone's blog tonight but I had to put together a ten minute presentation for tomorrow.

Back in high school I had no problem getting up in front of class. But when I had to take a speech class for my bachelor's degree I started getting the dry mouth, sweaty palms, sick stomach, pounding heart thing. I actually volunteered to go to this class.

Well, wish me luck. I couldn't figure out what to talk about so I thought about some of my blog stories. Decided to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of living downtown. There will be some panhandler and rude neighbor stories involved.

In the meantime, here are the last pretty fall pictures that I took. As always, you may click on the pictures and choose all sizes if you want a better look. Enjoy the colors!

Such veddy veddy pretty trees. I just wish pretty fall didn't lead to crappy winter.
I know you'll give a great presentation tomorrow. Just picture your audience in assless chaps.

Lovin' the red trees. You'll knock 'em dead tomorrow, squirly girl. They'll wish you'd just go on and on...

Presentation = They don't even know how lucky they are to be in the same room as you!!!!

That said, I am now perfectly embarrassed that I posted anemic, faux-Fall pictures awhile back. These are eye-popping, breath-taking and otherwise begging to be published in a calendar!

Blogaholic, these are mostly maple trees. The tenth picture down (man, how many did I post?) is actually a burning bush. This picture doesn't even do justice to the brilliant scarlet color they turn. Thanks!

Bucky, I know, as I scraped 5 inches of snow off my car yesterday morning. UGH! Thanks

Susie, thanks so much! I practiced last night, then this morning when I couldn't sleep. I'll be glad to get it done but there are some funny stories. I think they'll like it.

And, I have TWO sisters, you know. Which one are you talking about...? :-)

Danielle, the reds just take my breath away. So beautiful I can hardly stand it. Thanks for your vote of confidence. She's going to be videotaping us, too. Crap

Eclectic, thanks. I hope they enjoy my presesntation. I had to go with something I enjoyed, which is telling funny stories about the weird crap that happens around here.

xanyhx Xanax? Is it telling me I need to be on medication???

Such vibrant reds! Beautiful....

And you've had 5 inches of snow already?? I supposedly live in the snowy area of Ontario and we've barely had a dusting of snow (hoping that I didn't just jinx it by saying that....)

And--knock'em dead girly Squirl! You can do eet!

And, as for the calendar idea--that's awesome--check out Dooce--they've just made a calendar all based on Chuck...I'd go for a nature calendar any day--especially if it was pictured by someone I know!

welrkkw--huh?

Susie, I can hear it now. :-)

Effie, yes, we just had flurries today. Not too bad. My presentation went fairly well. It was shorter than it was supposed to be. That was mostly because I stayed more focussed and didn't have the ums and uhs. Plus, I talk fast when I'm nervous. BUT, nobody noticed that I was nervous so I'm totally pleased with the outcome.

You know, the Chuck calendar is cute, but you've made me curious about making a calendar from my pictures. Hmmmm.

Ladybug, thanks! It worked out quite well. I was happy, especially happy when it was done.

And you're right about the reds looking almost pink. Part of it might be the translation of the camera but the reds were so intense this year. Thanks!

Mr B, do you ever show blogs to your mother? You guys have these kinds of colors down there, don't you?

tshsmom, some years we hardly get anything for color. Either it gets too cold too soon or a major rain and wind storm take it all away. I enjoyed every minute of it. Glad I could share.

blogaholic, my presentation was a collection of stories of what living in downtown GR has been like. Everything from the symphony to opera to panhandlers. Nobody noticed how nervous I was so I was veeeeerrrryyy happy. Thanks for asking!

When the blog was fresh and new, I did actually give a print out to the family and let them pass it around. I'm sure they never read one single word because I never got any feedback. I'm so not loved. :(

Yeah, we have those colors here too, but she'd still like the photos. They be purty.

The colors of the leaves are certainly much more attractive there than they are here

Mr B, sounds more, to me, like you're just so not understood. Your creativity escapes them. Would you really want them to be reading it now?

SS Nick, I missed the really yellow part of the season somehow. But that brilliant, bright red just drove me nuts this year. I would've thought you guys got colors like this, too.

MD, thanks, as you can see so do I. :-)

I'm glad I could help bring some to you, Kranki. We don't always get them this good either. Lucky this year.
