A Rose
This is a new addition to my yard. My great-grandmother loved yellow roses. My mother had a climbing yellow rose when we lived in Kentucky. For years after we'd moved to Michigan, when I was a preteen and a teenager, I would buy my mother one single yellow rose on her birthday.
So I thought it was fitting to put a yellow rose bush in my new garden. There are three more pictures in Flickr. If you'd like to see them, just click on the photo here.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I dearly love roses. They are one flower that I have been able to successfully grow.
Nick, considering the delicate beauty of them, they really are pretty hardy.
aww squirl...that is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice flower and all, but if I get that damn song stuck in my head I may have to have harsh and severe words with you Miss Sqrrrlie Joe Bob.
Thanks, OTK!
Mr B, oops, sorreeee!
Yellow rose of Texas? Is that the song he is talking about?
Anyway, I really love the photo. It is a great flower shot. It, of course, helps when the subject is so gorgeous too. :-)
I beg your pardon.
I never promised you a rose garden.
(There, just replace one song with another, I says)
Wowza, that's one intensely beautiful rose!! And what a nice sentiment to keep giving your mom a yellow rose all through the summers.
Danielle, um, I think so. And thanks!
Bucky, now play nice...
Mr B, at least these flowers aren't making you sneeze.
Eclectic, it's a nice little link. Thanks!
It's a perfect flower! And a great picture too, the color and contrast.
Thanks, Ern, I appreciate that!
Just beautiful. My grandfather was the first man to give me flowers -- a dozen yellow roses when I graduated from high school. I never forgot that.
Beautiful and what a great remembrance.
The meaning behind your rose bush is even more beautiful than that rose!
My dad's favourite colour was yellow, and his casket was decorated with 100 yellow roses. A slightly morbid comment, but your photo made me think of him.
That is so sweet. I love yellow roses. I love any color rose for that matter but those yellow ones are just beautiful. Happy weekend.
htgt, that's a wonderful story. So this picture has a meaning for you, too. :-)
Nina, thank you. I'm sure you have plenty of those types of things yourself.
tshsmom, thank you so much.
Courtney, no, not morbid at all. We had yellow roses at my mother's funeral, too. :-)
Tweety, I'm glad you enjoy the roses. I have a white one, too, that was already here. I'll have to get some pictures of that one, too.
Very beautiful rose. And beautiful reminder of ladies who love you. xxx
Susie, thank you. I will always think of them when I see yellow roses. Hope your weekend is going well.
Whilst I could not grow roses in my own garden (on account of beiong to lazy to look after them) that picture is beautiful. It reminds me of the roses in my wedding bouquet.
Those are so pretty. And what a wonderful tribute. I bet they smell great too.
Platypus, that's so cool that you had yellow roses in your bouquet. Thanks!
Kranki, thanks, they do smell great. :-)
Wow, that is a beautiful yellow rose!
I not much a fan of yellow, but when it comes to roses, I like yellow roses.
The flowers we received at our graduation were yellow roses. So that brings back happy memories of being finally finished with high school. :)
And I can just smell it all the way over here. Pretty. :)
Your rose is absolutely gorgeous. I love that color. Thank you for sharing!
Ladymadaysia, I'm glad that you have a good memory to go along with yellow roses, too.
Laurie, thank you, and you're welcome.
:-)
a rose by any other name would smell as sweet...

Effie, thanks! So nice to see you.
Ooooohhhh, Squirl. That is a truly beautiful rose picture. Just gorgeous.
