Third Annual Blog Cookie Exchange
Thanks, Bucky, for making my masthead all Christmasy and stuff!
Well, it's that time of year again. Susie is hosting her third annual blog cookie exchange.
First, here's my rum cake recipe. I have made as many as three or four in the holiday season before.
Rum Cake
1 box yellow cake mix
1 small instant vanilla pudding
4 eggs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup rum
Combine and beat 10 minutes on medium speed. Grease and flour tube pan. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees F. Cool slightly, remove from the pan.
Sauce
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
Bring to boil. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add 2 ounces of rum. Poke holes in top of cake with fork. Spoon sauce over cake while warm.
Here's the cake.
And here are a couple of pictures of Christmas cheer at work.
Hope to see everyone today!

Yay! You're the first. I suck. And my arms hurt. But I'm working on mine. :)
How come nobody says "Yay!" when I don my gay apparel?
That cake sounds good but hard to make when you dont keep acohol around the house.. But beautiful decorations at work..
Susie, so sorry about your arms. But then, I looked at your post and I can why your arms hurt. Very nice job.
Bucky, I had a witty come-back when I first saw this in my e-mail. Gone. I suppose you could check with your own personal Tim Gunn when you don it.
Tweety, you could probably make it without the rum. There have been a lot of times that I cut the rum way down as it can be a bit much. The place I work is a "design" company. So it's usually pretty easy on the eyes.
Wow--that cake looks GREAT! Have you tried it with Captain Morgan's? Might have to try that one, and I bet I could figure out a use for the rest of the rum. :)
to Bucky: YAY!!!
Tim Gunn is a master of gay apparel, fo' sho'.
I love your new Christmas decor, here, Squirl!
Sharkey, I've never tried Captain Morgan's rum. It might be interesting.
Susie, thanks! I felt like being festive.
That bench is something else. Really really cool.
The Christmas decorations at your work are really nice. They don't put anything up around here and we never did get our Christmas lights put up. hmmm.. maybe I'll do that in the next little bit.
Oh, and I like your Christmassy masthead. :-)
Love the new masthead! (Oh and we have the same sofa at work but with multicoloured circules rather than just red ones.)
I will have to add the cake to my list of things to try making this holiday.... :)
Hey, thanks for stopping by my place. I know it was a little hard to find. I love the decorations at your work, and I think I might like that cake (without the rum).
Well, you inspired me to put up our lab Christmas lights. :-)
It looks much more festive now!
Danielle, that's the Marshmallow Sofa by George Nelson. He designed that in 1956. You see it occasionally. One of the times is in the second Austin Powers movie. I don't know if it's comfortable, but it's ultra cool. :-)
I see from your second post that you've put up your lights. I hope you can show us pictures of those. Thanks!
Platy, well, I just got all geeky about the sofa in my reply to Danielle. I like Nelson's work. I like Charles and Ray Eames furniture, too. That's cool that you have it at your workplace, too. You'll have to let me know if you make the cake. :-)
Karen, it did take one extra click to find you. :-)
And the cake would be fine without the run.
Well I didn't make the party, but glad I get to read about it. Merry Christmas everyone. Now I am sounding like tiny Tim.
Those are lovely, Christmassy pics. Christmas baking and even the thoughts of it are now putting pounds on my already obese frame.
I MISSED OUT THIS YEAR! Dammit. We had our company party Wednesday night and I had no time. NO TIME, I TELLS YA.
That cake looks awesome, BTW.
Nina, hm, you just sound like Nina to me. :-) Merry Christmas to you, too.
Nick, it's so hard at work with all the sweets that are around. Thanks!
Jim, work's been pretty hectic over here, too. And that's without a work party. Actually, our team is going to lunch together next Friday and then we'll head home for an 11-day break! You should try making the cake. It's really easy and does taste good. Thanks!
I love your masthead! And that cake looks so yummy I may actually dust off my bundt cake pan.
P.S. Tag!
I love you all too much to try to cook for you. You'll thank me for that later.
Hugs,
Laurie
The couch is uber-cool, and it doubles as a festive holiday decoration, too. BONUS! At my office, we have NOTHING up for the holiday. Ditto my house. Until today. Today I shall decorate everywhere. I think. Maybe. If I have time. ***sigh*** ;)
htgt, the cake is good. Let me know if you try it. I checked out your tag. That's pretty long, but I'll see if I can do it. This next week is pretty busy.
Laurie, work can't be that bad, now can it? Can it? Hugs to you, too! :-)
Eclectic, good luck on the decorating. I'm just enjoying other people's. It makes a difference in the furnishing of the office if you own it and have to pay for them yourself.
