Happy Memorial Day Weekend
We're roasting soy dogs and marshmallows over the fire in Fruitport tonight. Yes, we're house- and dog-sitting for Ichabod's folks. Two nights in the country, can't beat it.
I've been taking some photos. They will be posted, maybe tomorrow.
In case you don't get a chance to stop back, have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Soy dogs? Ugh! I think I’ll bead for McDonald’s for breakfast and eat a couple of sausage biscuits.
Nick, well, there certainly won't be any soy dogs in my breakfast. The coffee's brewing right now, though, and that's the real stuff.
JDR, back in the 1860's it was declared Decoration Day. It was the day to decorate the graves of, and honor the war dead. Now it's call Memorial Day even though some older folk still call it Decoration Day. Originally, it was celebrated on May 30th. But, so that gov't employees could have a long weekend it started being observed on the last Monday in May.
I'll bet that's way more info than you wanted. :)
As a Girl Scout mom, I can't hear of roasted marshmallows without thinking s'mores. Pick up some graham crackers and Hershey bars! Have a great time :)
Have fun with Annie!
Susie, hi! *waving*
I've been trying really hard this last week to watch what I eat. And Ichabod and his friend, Eric, went to the store without me, so, no graham cracker or chocolate. But I did have two marshmallows. :)
Hope you're getting past that bendy part in the road.
tshsmom, there is a celebration this time every year here in Fruitport called Old Fashioned Days. They bring rides and stuff in. Last night, when I was trying to sleep, was fireworks night. I didn't mind the fireworks, but Annie's never heard them before. She was barking and growling. I had to pet and soothe her the rest of the time to get her to shut up. :)
But, I'm still having fun with her.
Happy Memorial Day weekend to you too!
Soy hot dogs eh? I guess I thought that you ate beef. Do you not? or are you just afraid of the stuff that ends up in hot dogs? Just wondering.
Have a nice time with Annie. Hopefully, now that the fireworks are over, she'll feel better.
Danielle, you're back! I hope you had a good vacation.
The soy dogs were Ichabod's idea. I will eat beef, I just don't eat it all the time.
Annie's doing fine now. Well, except when she was digging in the plants. She got puppy prison for a while after that. :)
Mmmmmmm. Soy dogs and marshmellows. Seriosly, a meal after my own heart. Have a great weekend filled with puppy kisses.
Sounds like a great weekend!
Can't wait to see the pictures!
Just what kind of wine do you serve with soy dogs?
Sun, you may stop by, if you like, but I'm not sure when we're leaving. His folks might be home by then, though.
Kranki, of course, there's always someone who understands the vegetarian side of things. :)
And there have been many puppy kisses.
Sierrabella, I have to get my ass in gear and the get the pictures out here. Let's see, how a nice dry red wine??? That's my preference anyway. :)
I won't eat soy hot dogs, because I just don't like hot dogs in general. But I have been totally converted to eating and LOVING soy chicken (chik'n). And you know, soy is important for a woman my age...
Hope y'all's havin' fun!
Bucky, soy is very important to a certain segment of our population. :)
I love my new template and look!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You got it, Bucky and Squirl! Every time my hot flashes come back, I up my soy intake, and POOF, they're gone.
tshsmom, I also take evening primrose oil and vitamin E. Anything that works, eh?
sounds great. Have a marshmallow or 2 for me please
Your blog is looking lovely lady.
And I did that what order were you born thing and it got me right too, first born.
Its prolly the bossy thing that gives it away. heh
Nice new look!
By the way, we are having hot dogs (organic) tonight! along with potato salad and blueberries. too bad we don't have some watermelon, that would be about perfect.
Dawn, you got it!
Jess, thanks! Some very nice person fixed my blog up for me. Any idea who that could be?
So that one got you right, too, huh? I guess somebody has to be in charge.
Danielle, thanks! I really love the new look.
Sounds like a wonderful meal. Too bad about no watermelon, though.
Corn dogs on this end. Mmmm.
Mr B, when we had our soy dogs, we wrapped Pillsbury biscuit dough around them. So they weren't corn dogs, but weirdly, vaguely reminiscent of corn dogs.
OH YEAH! My family knows when I haven't taken my evening primrose! :0
I also take black cohosh and flaxseed oil...works for me.
Yes, I take flaxseed oil, too. But I've never taken the black cohosh.
You too.
Love your photos.
Ree, thanks!
