I don't remember asking for a white Christmas

But, a white Christmas is what we got anyway. These pictures were taken last Friday and it's snowed more since.

Just picture the spring bulbs waiting under all of this.

The snow is definitely higher than this now.

There were some pretty big drifts. This is how high the snow drifted up against the front door.

Here's something you see very little of in a Michigan winter - the sun.

You might have to click on this and choose All Sizes to see it. The snow was all sparkly and I'm using this as the background on my computer desktop.

And this year Bucky is getting her Christmas wish. Well, at least the one for rum cake. It's the first time since my mom died that I made one. And I'm taking half of it over to her.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Merry Christmas! Great shots and I'm certain there is likely another footski in that back yard of yours of "holiday cheer."

There is a Santa joke somewhere that I'll reserve for a less PG-13 environment ;-). Or just leave it up to Bucky to fill in the blanks after a few slices of Rum Cake (btw I'm so jealous, I haven't had it in probably three years but I do love some Squirl-Rum-Cake).

I swear, there's still some...a little...a few crumbs of the half-cake left. Stella realllly wants some, but I'm sticking to my rum-filled guns. I am the cake Nazi. "No cake for YOU."

Chia, hi! Mebbe I'll make another one sometime and have you and Bucky over to eat it.

Bucky, Stella does not need cake. You be the cake Nazi, stick to your guns.

Merry Christmas! Sounds like the rum cake was in high demand.

We got our wish for no more snow on Christmas. We, too, had sunshine sparkling on the snow. The beautiful, sparkly morning actually made us appreciate the beauty of our snow.

We still haven't tackled the drift in front of our small garage door. We're seriously considering leaving it, as we don't use that door much in the winter anyway.

You have my deepest sympathy, but I hope you had a wonderful Christmas in spite of the white crap on the ground.

Yes, it looks like you had a lovely white Christmas. We had one too and it was the snowiest one since 1971. It snowed some more today but now it is pouring with rain and it is really gross out.

Hmmmm...here's to a more moderate (weather-wise) 2009.

The snow is beautiful, Squirl. However, I rather liked my atypical Christmas weather of high temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

Tweety, thanks!

Jenski, not many people besides my sister ate the cake. But she sure loves it enough to make it worth the baking. :-)

tshsmom, I'm glad you got to see the sun. I wouldn't worry about shoveling that spot. It can wait. We are getting big rain and warm temps today. I can see real hunks of green grass in my backyard.

Bone, yes I had a great Christmas. Now that the stuff is melting I'm even happier. Thanks!

Thanks, Laurie! Happy to hear that your dad's feeling better.

Kranki, I'm happy to see the rain here. The big snow piles are melting better than the wicked witch of the west. And, yes, better weather in '09 sounds great!

Nick, lucky you! I'm just happy for this atypical thunderstorm today.

You lucky so-n-so having weather like that. Here in London we just get freezing cold icy blasts from Siberia yet nothing even as pretty as boring old FROST, letalone snow for Xmas...
