Here's the rum. Where's the Coca-Cola?

Well, Susie asked me to post the recipe for this rum cake that Bucky and I are always talking about. Since I just had some a couple of hours ago I guess this would be the appropriate time to post it. It's simple and delicious. If you don't like it to taste/smell quite as strong then you can use less rum and more water. Enjoy!

RUM CAKE

1 Yellow Cake Mix
1 Small Instant Vanilla Pudding
4 Eggs
1/2 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Light Rum

Combine and beat 10 minutes on medium speed. Grease and flour tube pan. Bake 1 hour at 325. Cool slightly, remove from pan.

Sauce

1 Stick Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Water

Bring to boil. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add 2 ounces rum. Poke holes in top of cake with fork. Spoon sauce over cake while warm.

Thank you, Squirl! Sounds yummy :) Have a great time with the sibs this weekend, and give the assless-chapped wonder woman a hug for me. Just when IS the big 4-0, by the way? I don't think I've seen a date, just "end of the month."

Bucky's birthday is the 30th. Easy to remember for me as mine's April 30th. :-)

I will give her a big hug from you this afternoon when I go back over to my mom's. Thanks!

I did my 3s, Squirl. There's also a little something in my post today regarding the dirty rotten scoundrel soon-to-be birthday girl. You and she should come and see ;)

Kranki, I this weird thing called a tube pan. Like what angel food cakes are made from. And, yes, the cake really is good.

Dang Cold, thanks for the birthday fwishes for both of us!

Susie, it's really getting rowdy on your site. ;-)

The cake sounds yummy!
Do you remember when Harvey Wallbanger cakes were popular?
I posted something special for Bucky on my Sierra Vistas site- guess it's an early birthday gift!
Hope you guys are having a great time!

The rum cake, she is addictive.

Makes you do crazy things, like promise food prizes to people when you have no intention of fulfilling that promise.

Yeah. The rum cake made me do it.

Mr B, RUM cake RUM cake.

Jamie Dawn, I hope you enjoy it. It's a pretty easy recipe which is good because I'm not that much into cooking or baking.

Kitty, I miss you, too. I'm kinda wrung out right now. I need to make a new post but don't have the time. My mom had to go into the hospital on Saturday. I'm going right this minute to help get her home. She's gonna be okay but really weak, I think for a while. Breathing problems, emphysema, touch of pneumonia. I wanna make every cigarette, cigar, every bit of tobacco disappear right this instant.

More later.

Hey, Squirl. You and your family are in my heart. Try to take good care of you while you're taking care of Mom. I'm with you on the disappearing tobacco. My dad had emphysema. I say "had." He died 11 years ago. Never was able to quite smoking.

Good, my blog is back up again. I thought there was a vendetta against my family last night. Every other blogger account I go to was except mine, Bucky's and Tardist's.

Mr B, I brought some bum, I mean rum cake to my mom in the hospital. Musta helped.

Bucky, you're already making enough of that tobacco disappear, ya hear me? :-)

Ladybug, thanks for your kind words and I did enjoy the Weee. That was weird. I always liked Dave Barry's books and columns. I think I found his blog through your site. Thanks

Susie, thank you very much. I think that my sibs and I are getting better nights' sleep now than we did over the weekend. You're right about making sure EVERYONE is taken care of. So sorry to hear about your father. My dad died 15 years ago. He had lung cancer. Well, I guess my vice is junk food and they're not rushing to take that off the shelf either.

Oh, I think between Squirl and me, there's enough bum for everyone here, Mr. B.

That's right, Squirl. I'm gonna keep puttin' rude comments here until you put up a new post.

Then I'll put rude comments on the new post.
