There are blessings and there are blessings
I've been out driving around this weekend. Saturday I saw four pairs of Sandhill Cranes. I also saw a Great Blue Heron flying. Today Ichabod and I went to the Manistee, MI, area. The plants aren't as far along that far north. But they do have a Sequoia tree up there that keeps growing and is very healthy. For those of you who don't know where Manistee is just picture the back of your left hand that is the shape of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Manistee is just about to the first knuckle up from the hand. It was cold and kinda damp but there was a lot of moss, lots of ferns, and a nice walk.
On the downside, we got stuck going through Baldwin at the end of the Blessing of the Bikes. Motorcyclists from all over go there once a year in May for the blessing. They also appear to like the leather vendors and all the food stands along the way. Wouldn't have been so bad, but like I said, we went through just as it was letting out and we spent a lot of time just sitting in traffic. It was still a lovely weekend.

Well, did you at least pick me up some new assless chaps while you were stalled there?
Kitty: math class always made me wanna stab somebody. But the leather restraints really helped with that urge control.
Squirl, it looks like all of Dooce's comment spam has come to your site.
Don't you feel lucky as a leper dipped in Krazy Glue?
And Kitty, don't forgit the Kentucky Jelly next time.
Looks like I might need to make this site unavailable to anonymous comments. I'd rather not have to but I HATE SPAM.
Pretty rotten spam y'got there--I hope that doesn't start up on my site--most of my fam. posts anonymously....
What's Kentucky Jelly?...oh wait--the short form for Kentucky is KY...boy I'm slow--it's Monday morning
In Port Dover (Ontario) on every Friday the 13th they have a biker's day--lots of leather and assless chaps for everyone!
Woo-hoo, Effie, Kitty and Bucky, KY and assless chaps today. I think I got all the spam deleted. I'd like to go back to allowing anonymous commenters if I thought I were safe now.
Every time I read "Manistee" I thought it said "manatee" and had to go back and read it again.
Yep, it's Monday morning, alright.
Ah, nature.
*achoooo!*
Hi, Ladybug, yes, people who are from Michigan would catch that one, but I can see where anyone else could be confused. :-)
Mr B, I just take my pill and go on out anyway.
I take my pill(s), go out anyway, and then end up nearly loosing my voice. Then I come here and bitch and moan and whine and complain and bellyache and sniff and snort and clear my throat....but all with a hoarse voice of course.
:)
Mr B, sounds like you really have bad allergy problems. are they primarily in the spring when so many things are blooming?
Hello! Sounds like everyone was having a pretty nice weekend! Either being lazy, spending time with loved ones, or getting spanked like a wicked girl.
Ok maybe that was just me.
Hi!
The allergies are with me all year, but do pick up during the "fun" seasons.
And not only did I not get spanked, my weekend sucked.
We get a 'lotta' bikers in my neighborhood, especially on the weekends, due to the hills and curvy roads.
What's scary is that they stop at several bars on the way up to this area.
For entertainment we turn on the scanner and listen to the EMTs picking up the pieces.
Hi, Jess, welcome back! Glad you had a great time!
Mr B, sorry your allergies are so bad. I wouldn't suggest it, but the North Pole might not be so allergenic.
Sierrabella, that's one of the reasons I was worried on the way home. I was hoping that they wouldn't have been drinking at 9:30 am. But by 2:30, who knows?
Nah, I don't get along with the snow and ice deal. I guess I'm stuck.
Hey Mr. Bloggerific--you could live in a bubble--wouldn't that be fun?? Then there'd be no more sneezing! One of my brothers has really really nasty allergies--I remember days in my childhood when he went through multiple boxes of Kleenex in a day...when you heard him sneezing you'd run because he had explosive sneezes--he'd need 2 or 3 to contain it (sorry for the gross out factor!)
A bubble huh? I don't look as good as Travolta, I doubt I could pull it off. May have to give it a shot though.
My sister refuses to let her sneezes out. Holds them in, face turns red, you see a slight expansion in the face...a little air squeezes out, and that's it. Yeah, we're weird.
Wait...you saw Sandhill Cranes...with Ichabod!? Bwahahaha! Too funny!
And after I stop by Greenie's homestead to see the goshawks, I will be showing up at your place to see the rose-breasted grosbeaks.
This is great! I can meet bloggin' birders all over the country and then take a giant road trip and never have to pay for a hotel. ;)
Effie and Mr B, maybe the bubble thing could work. Perhaps you'd only have to use it when you were outside.
Ern, it is fun hearing about the different birds that people can see. Maybe we bloggers should set up a little blogger "hostel" so we can stay places on the cheap. (no bird pun intended, well, maybe, yeah)
