After this food it may be Festival of the Farts
Well, it's the first weekend in June in Grand Rapids, MI, which means Festival of the Arts. Of course, to me, it means food booths and some music.
I went down tonight and got a chicken tika from the Pakistani/Indian booth. Then Ichabod and I went over to listen to some R&B/Motown. When that was done I went over to the United Methodist Church booth and got a waffle cone with my FAVORITE ice cream, mint chocolate chip.
Now I'm sitting here, nice and full, trying to catch up on my blogging. Maybe I'll grab a beer. Tomorrow I will be going back for more food. Life can be so blissful sometimes.

Oooooh, that sounds good. 'Specially the mint choco chip ice cream...mmmmmm. One of the very few ways that I really, really like chocolate.
Have a beer for me!
Baby, yeah, good stuff. I decided to settle for a glass of Merlot. Enjoying it now.
Hey, you're back!
I'm coming over- mint chocolate chip is my favorite too. Bet you didn't save me any?
Merlot and Cabernet are my favorite wines... come to think of it I have some downstairs.
Cheers!
Hi, Sierrabella, no I couldn't save any ice cream for you. Ichabod had to open the door as the ice cream had melted all over me. GR is warmer than normal right now. :-)
We buy either Merlot or Cabernet just depends which one sounds good or has a better sale. I tip my glass to you.
I just love food from those booths are fairs and festivals. I love the chinese food and those chicken kabobs. You've made me hungry!!
Danielle, oh, lactose intolerance. That sucks. As long as you both agree to stink it up at the same time I guess you can indulge occasionaly. :-)
Jamie, I don't know what it is about booth food that makes it so attractive. We have a Vietnamese booth that I'll probably go back to today.
Aaaah, lactose intolerance...makin' my menu choices a bitch for years now.
Soy milk was like a revelation for me. I can now have cereal...with MILK! You just can't imagine what a treat that is when you've been resigned to eatin' dry cereal for years and years...
Yeah, Bucky, dairy never was any problem for me until last winter when I was so sick and ended up with allergies. I can eat cheese. But milk or yogurt make my nose run like crazy. I had a little 6 oz yogurt yesterday and somebody asked me if I had a cold. I'll take an occasion runny nose over stomach troubles. I have stomach troubles over enough other things. :-)
Mint chocolate chip used to be my favorite. I'm not a huge ice cream person, but when I have it now I like butter pecan. I love the music at those festivals. I just noticed my beloved Nevilles are coming to the Columbia, MD, Farts Festival in a week or so. Have to check that out. Go back and enjoy today! :)
Oh, and what is it with digestive systems getting so freakin' uncooperative in middle age? I never used to have to think twice about ANYTHING I might want to eat.
Hi, Susie, hope you get to go see the Nevilles. You'll have to tell us all about it. No big names here, mostly local stuff which is also really cool.
I think our digestive systems are wreaking revenge on us for so blatantly ignoring their early, subtle reminders. I still blame getting sick in Mexico, as a teenager, for part of the problem. Of course as I keep heading up in my 40s I guess middle age is the reason. My Freudian typo (which I caught and fixed) just typed ate instead of age in that last sentence. :-)
Mmmm, food. Food is good. I like food. Got any cotton candy at this festival?
There has got to be cotton candy. I wasn't looking for any so I didn't find it. Wouldn't be festival with food booths without it.
mmmm, food booths at a fart festival--I swear--we had a Folk Arts festival in our town recently and every different culture has a different funky blend of spices that add to the funk in the air...haha
Effie, you're so right. The odors (aroma, smells?) as you walk down the street are overwhelming. Kind of cool to have all those choices.
Kitty, sounds like you've been busy. I saw some interesting looking people there, too. I bet we did see that big group of guys. Of course, there's everything from rock to soul to ballet. Something for everyone. Get some rest now.
Weren't...looking...for the....cotton....*passes out with a thud*
OMG, Mr B, are you okay? Here, have some cotton candy. It will help revive you. There, are you feeling any better now? Talk to me honey, tell me you're all right.
*Gets up doing his best Kenny Loggins and dancing like a gopher*
"Iiiii'm alright, don't nobody worry 'bout me"
Whew, you had me worried there for a minute.
Mr. B, what'd I tell you about goin' slow on those estrogen treatments?
does life really get any better than mint chip ice cream and merlot? (cept maybe mint chip ice cream and a beer)
You tell 'im Bucky.
GreatWhite, either one sounds right. Hope you're feeling better.
Let's see...you told me that those treatments would ...uh...mess with the gender of my speaking voice and render me assless.
sooooooooooooo? what was the food of choice today?
hmmmMMM?
Mr B, those treatments sound dangerous. Better watch out.
Danielle, I had to go away for a while this morning. By the time I got back, there were severe thunderstorms and I could only assume the Festival had to close down. It's almost 8:00 and it just stopped raining. I really wanted to see the Bethel Baptist Pentecost Choir, too. I've heard that they're really good and I wanted to hear them for myself. Oh well, that's the way it goes with outdoor festivals. :-)
bummer.
good thing you went when you did.
Ahh lazy weekend. I wont be having any of those for awhile, but I can live through you guys!
Hermione found the cats squirl toy, much to their dismay, she isnt nearly as careful with you as she should be. Sorry about the slobber.
Danielle, yes, I'm glad I got there when I did.
Jess, I thought I was sweating. Now I know it was Hermione slobber. :-)
Sounds like a great day. Right on!
LOVE the title of this post.
"Festival of the Farts," indeed.
Kitty, it sure did go by fast. EastTown in 2 weeks, huh?
Kranki, thanks, yeah, these things are even better when they're close enough to just walk.
Ladybug, I was feeling mighty full when I titled this. Felt kinda clever too. :-)
