Time for a new post

Okay, I'm really having fun with my camera. We have skylights over the kitchen. This time of year the sun actually shines in them.

As I was putting dishes away a few days ago I noticed a neat rainbow effect on the wine glasses. I decided, hey, why not try for a shot.

Here's what I got.

I saw this on flickr the other day and I thought it looked really neat. The glasses remind me of bubbles.

Amber, thanks. That reminds me of a time, recently, when I was doing a few dishes by hand. One tiny soap bubble went into the air and floated around on air currents for at least ten minutes before one of us broke it. I don't know how long that thing would've floated on its own. ":)

It's almost a carnival glass effect.

I've had the stay soap bubble thing happen to me many times before.

One time we had this one float around for about ten minutes. We kept working on dishes and every few minutes we would glance up to see if it was still floating around. Eventually it floated all the way to our bedroom and landed on our bed and popped.

Bubbles fascinate me.

When I was in 6th or 7th grade, our science teacher let us do this "experiment" with soap bubbles. I honestly do not know what we were experimenting, but the goal was to blow the biggest bubble in the classroom.

We poured soapy solution on the tables we worked at and used a straw to blow one large bubble. I can remember the biggest my group got was a 2 foot in diameter bubble.

A few years ago I tried it at home on our kitchen table and I was able to get a nearly 3 foot in diameter bubble.

That was cool.

And who knows how long that little bubble would have floated. ;)

Amber, I think you had a teacher with a sense of humor and no desire to work that day. But it sounds like fun. :)

I took pictures of kids at the bubble tables when volunteering at the GR Children's Museum. They turned out awesome. One of my commenter's on Flickr takes pics and does bubbles on pics now too. He is teaching us how to do it. Very cool!

BTW...them glasses is squeaky clean squirl!

I love soap bubbles too.

This photo has two things that make it interesting to me, the rainbow and the reflection of you taking the photo. Or at least I think that is your reflection. It looks like you were holding the camera up really high, which is a bit unexpected. Guess you needed that angle?

Anyway, it is a nice shot, and I'm glad you shared it with us.

Susie, thanks! I've been wondering how your area is with all that rain!!

Lori, bubble pictures are really cool. I'll bet you had fun shooting those. I sure hope those were clean, I did 'em by hand. :)

Jim, thanks!

Danielle, yes, that is my reflection. I didn't realize it until after I took it. The shelf is up higher up and I had to hold it like that. Of course, I had to steady my hand on the cabinet door as the flash was turned off. The first shot with the flash wiped out the rainbow look.

I'm glad you liked it.

Ladybug, thanks! :)

Lori, we all get to be cheaper dates as we get older.

Tardist, thanks! I haven't seen that kind of light on them since. Glad I caught it that day. :)

Effie, I do too. I saw a very faint rainbow in the sky earlier this week. Of course I thought that was just great.

Cool effect! I love catching rainbows on unexpected surfaces. My littlest guy calls them "rainbow fairies" and thinks they fly like Tinkerbell. I haven't corrected him yet.

Hey, can't you post a mediocre pic, just so those of us without an artist's eye don't feel so bad?

Seriously, terrific photo!

Very unique photograph! Since blogger still won’t allow me to upload graphics, I suppose T must utilize other resources. Damn! The one-step upload of blogger was so easy I hate to abandon it.

Kittn, fairies, disco, seems like they kinda go together doesn't it???

Nick, sorry that blogger's being a poop. I use Flickr and it's pretty easy to post pictures with a simple highlight, copy, and paste.
Thanks!
