The tango-ing turtles
You probably remember this post where I asked if anyone knew what the heck that last picture was all about.
Then I was checking out the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts. After I'd printed off the map I saw a funny little picture in the legend with the name Otterness Sculpture on it. Of course, I googled it.
Check out the link and run your cursor over the pictures. I find them rather disturbing. But at least I now know that they aren't alien seed. What's more disturbing, though, is that somebody made a deliberate choice to purchase and place them here in Grand Rapids.

Time to update my comment to that post Sqrrrl.
We're building a new public library in town. Last weekend, the boy and I were visiting the current location and thought we'd check the plans for a stone rail in the new location. None. He'll no longer be able to walk on with Daddy close by. :(
(now, if I could only get me some free money)
Kittn, they all look oblivious, but they still creep me out.
Mr B, aw, I'm sorry. That's a drag. Yeah, free money. Could use some of that, too.
Free money...there's no such thing. Those gay turtles are prostitutes, I just know it.
My word ver is ijzdyg.
I Jay-Z dig? I dig Jay-Z? Well, yeah, I kinda do...
Okay, now I'm certainly not an expert of art, but I am an average-joe or joanna on the street and to me they look so blocky that I really don't see any beauty in them at all. Maybe it is just me and my love of curls and lacey, delicate shapes but YUCK. Alien poop, indeed.
Bucky, you know there's no such thang as easy money...
Danielle, I see nothing aesthetically pleasing about these, either. I'm definitely with you on this one.
"conjoined twin poop gods" sounds about right.
I thought the "Otterness" was something about them being otters, like they captured the essence of otters. Which I was actually kinda starting to see, until I clicked the link and realized . . . oh.
Susie, bwahahahahah, conjoined twin poop gods! I love it!
Sorry to lead you wrong on the otter thing. The guy is pretty well known in New York. I've never seen his stuff before, though.
Granted - I think the alien thing is more appropriate. But at least it isn't an homage to needle-using druggies everywhere, like we have here in Seattle
Jim, yeah Space, Needle. The whole thing really fits, doesn't it???
Why do you find them disturbing??????
Creep You Out????
huh.
Although, I can imagine why the "Computor Pile" may cause you to gag.
spzkhc-speaks havouc
Lori, exactly!
I rather enjoyed perusing those sculptures; however, I don’t think I’d want one in my front yard.
Nick, looks like a touring display so I won't have them around here forever. Some of those pictures are just really weird.
I am going to step out and admit that I really like the duck...
Amber, thank you for your stand on the duck. :)
Okay, I'm with Kittn and Amber... I kinda like them, inspite Bucky's insinuation of effeminateness.
GWB, hi! Thanks, I knew I could count on you. :)
I certainly enjoyed this short visit, Thanks for the photos, I love flowers, and for the walk thru town.
Started my day off with a bigger smile.
