Da House!

I have a mix of pictures here from now and from before the previous owners moved.

Here are a few of the front of the house.

This is the front entrance (which used to be an enclosed porch) and the living room.

DSCN2884

This is the dining area. The entertainment center will be back in the living room this weekend. And, of course, please excuse the mess.

DSCN2886

This is the kitchen before the previous owners moved out.

DSCN2562
DSCN2572

The bathroom.

DSCN2890

This is the master bedroom in the dark blue and with the carpet.

DSCN2849

Here it is after I painted it a yellow gold and Ichabod tore up the carpet.

I forgot to mention that behind that mirror we found a built-in ironing board with an iron.
DSCN2889

I just wasn't too fond of this pale blue, either.

DSCN2850

Green is more my color.

DSCN2878

The rest of these are from before we owned the place. Here's the long shot of the basement, including the washer and dryer that we got in the deal.

DSCN2575

Here's the downstairs finished room. It's not legal as a bedroom as it needs an egress window for that. You can't really tell from this picture, but the room is carpeted in pink and it's all painted in pink, including the ceiling. :) I do wish I had that Cat Noir poster.

DSCN2573

We don't have any of this furniture.

DSCN2580
DSCN2582

The garage, which is in dire need of a paint job.

DSCN2583

And that's where we'll be the bulk of this weekend. If everything goes right we hope to move in next weekend!

You shoulda seen the yellow she painted our room when we both still lived at home...

This one is a little more subdued. :)

Can't wait to see it in person!

I love the paint changes you made in the rooms!! Very nice.

I have that Chat Noir print in the cat's room! :-)

Thanks, Eclectic! Those blues just weren't me.

Kittn, hi again. :) Yes, yellow is definitely this Squirl's color.

Bucky, that was a lighter, more lemon yellow. And I painted, in enamel, the dresser orange, with bright yellow drawers and green knobs. Hey, those colors were in style. :)

I can't wait for you to come over and see it, either.

Soozie, thanks! That dark blue was too depressing. The picture makes it look brighter than it really was. I just love that poster.

Wow, Wow, Wow ~ I love it and it is so exciting . . . We had a blue bedroom like that at the Phoenix house and I painted it green too. I like it so much better.
Thinking about it I can so see you as a yellow person. . . just because you are so like sunshine.

What a great house! It looks like you've got some nice space. :-) You've really done a good job with painting rooms to make it yours. And I know you've worked on the flooring too.

I hope the rest of your prep goes well and moving is smoooooth.

The garage has character. ;) As I like to say at least.

I love, love, love that green color you painted it, as well as the yellow. Very cool.

I would have painted some yellow somewhere in our house, but NONE of our stuff would look good with yellow. None.

The green, though, that is awesome.

Which color is your bedroom? lol

I love your paint jobs.

We (Actually, just me) are ramping up to do another paint job in our house. The bathroom is blechy and I am going to redo one of the bedrooms soon.

Congrats!!!!

Mr B, can you believe it? They took the balloon with them. Of course, Bucky and I have a weird story about a mylar balloon that followed us back and forth and all around in a dollar store once. That was kinda skirry.

Nina, thanks! So you painted a blue room green, too? That's cool. That's sweet that you would compare me to sunshine. :)

Danielle, we have so much more storage space than in this apartment! I'm gonna love it. The floor got its final coat of polyurethane today! Thanks!

Amber, I'm plenty happy with that garage. Not only will I not have to dump snow off in the morning, I won't have to worry about anybody shooting it!

Oh, you know I'm gonna be sleeping in the yellow room. The living room is a bright yellow. But most of our furniture is black leather and lighter colored wood. Ich's sister said we'd have bumblebee colors. tee hee

Good luck on your upcoming paint job. And thanks!

Kranki, thanks! It's not huge or expensive. But it's got a nice yard, and is affordable. And we'll be away from the ghetto neighbors. :)

For some reason, I think I've heard a mylar following story. Was that a post?

I think my sister posted that one. If I did, then I don't remember. But I do think it was out there.

Teehee Bumblebee!

Hey! That rhymes!

That is kind of funny. You should take pictures when you are moved in, because I want to see these "bumblebee" colors.

I think my house feels a bit "woodsy". We have green walls with a brown leather couch. It's very odd.

My peach room, however, reminds me of peaches. I feel like I am in a peach tree orchid whenever I am in there.

And the bedroom? I painted it sky blue because it relaxes me.

Maybe I should paint a wall yellow so that could be the "Sun" on my peach trees and foliage. ;)

Weird, I know.

All of this talk of painting makes me want to paint again.

I love it.

Have fun with your stuff. How exciting to be putting polyurethene on the floors for the final coat. I bet they are BEAUTIFUL!

Gotta love that hard wood.

Also, I had a good chuckle when you said you wouldn't have to worry about anybody shooting your car. Thank goodness.

Oh, the stories you could tell...

P.S. Have you ever had a mylar balloon fall from the sky and land on your head? ;)

It's so cute, and I love that kitchen -- the counter space!! Okay, I wanted my own house before, now I really want one!!

Congrats, and you must post photos after you've decorated!

Lynn, why thank you! :)

Amber, I will take after move-in pictures, as soon as things are settled. I hope it's not too bumblebee-ish.
I want to see your after pictures if you decide to do some more painting. And, yes, we do like the hardwood floors. They're easier to keep clean and much better for allergies, too.
Yes, I'll be able to tell about the time my car got shot up. :)
Did you have a balloon fall on your head?

Courtney, it's more work to own a home, but so worth it. I promise to do after pictures. I just hope it looks as good as I think it will.

OMG, I love it!
Although blue is my favorite color, the only blue walls in my place are in the master bath where it complements the dark blue grout and white tiles.
We're almost ready to have the outside painted, and I love the grey and white of your place. I'm going to show it to Mr. SB and get his opinion (like his opinion counts!)
Squirl is in da house!

Thanks, Sierrabella! I did keep the blue that was in the kitchen. It had just a touch of green to it. I like the color of the siding, too. I was just talking to Ichabod about planting Burning Bushes in front under the windows. I think that scarlet color in the fall would really work.

Let me know if you end up painting your place that color!

Burning bush would be great!
I was thinking Kangaroo Paw (in red) except it's only hardy to about 25 degrees... guess that's out for you?
Mr. SB liked your exterior color, so I'll let you know if that's what we go for.

Blogger Squirl said...

I've never heard of Kangaroo Paw. It would probably look great, but wouldn't last the first Michigan winter. :)

Glad hubby likes the colors. Looking forward to your update.

the house is BEAUTIFUL and I love the colours you've painted! THe back yard looks lovely and you'll be able to have flowers of your own in it!

The hammock and swing in the back--not yours?

And--so long as you don't have any by-law officers over, you won't have any probs with the bedroom below-grade!

Bone, you know it. Frank was just dripping with class.

Effie, thanks! No, the outside furniture doesn't belong to us. I think it'll be next year now before I get too serious about flower planting. Maybe some bulbs yet this fall.
