Kitties galore!

Since my sister has moved back to the area we have spent many enjoyable hours talking, giggling, eating, and watching General Hospital. And along with that, she has three wonderful cats that I get to visit. No cats at my house, Ichabod's deathly allergic. So I get to visit the little darlings and leave someone else to clean the litterbox.

The first to greet me, and perhaps try to escape out the door, is Thirteen. He is cuddly and lovey. But he'll try to climb you with those sharp, little kitten claws.

Then there's Friday. When I first started visiting, Friday acted like a ninny. He would hide. Then when we did make eye contact he had the "popsicle" eyes. If I even acted like I might get close he'd run.

Now, he's finally decided that I can, sometimes, pet him. He has jumped in my lap once. That was amazing. But, as you can see from these pictures, the little tuxedo kitten is fairly comfortable being around me.

Last, but certainly not least, there's old man Eeyore. Some of you probably know him from Jess's place. He loved Katy so much and was just lost when she was gone, so they decided Eeyore should come over here. He's 18 but is acting like he's much younger now. He's pretty mellow around me, but prefers to hide out in the spare bedroom.

And if that wasn't enough for the cute overload, here's what happens when you give catnip to kittens and remember your camera:

My own garden

Update. Two more pictures at the bottom!

Well, I finally have my own garden. It's been years. I'm not sure how much I'll end up with, as this is my first year at it, but I hope it'll be fun.

I planted bulbs last fall. A few weeks ago the weather got really warm and nice. Then, it got really cold and snowed. Some of my flowers that were just coming up will probably be okay. Some will not.

Anyway, the pictures aren't great, but here's what's happening right now.

This hyacinth seems to be the best of the lot.

The crocus in the backyard did fairly well.

And I'm not sure what this is. I'll have to wait for it to get a little bigger.

I don't know if I've seen this color hyacinth before or not. I was also not sure if they'd survived the frost. And, of course, the scent is fabulous!

I took this just after sunset. I love yellow. And I love daffodils in particular.

Long overdue pictures

I promised JD's Rose a picture of my boots. These are the boots that allowed me to take sunset pictures in some very cold weather. Of course, they're also the ones I was wearing when I fell down the stairs.

Ms Von Krankipantzen asked for a picture of the pair of socks that I won at Curves right before Christmas.

And here's a bonus photo, as long as I'm at foot level. They're plastic and I can use them in the garden and when I wash the cars.

I've been tagged

I've been tagged by my Canadian blogger-buddy, Effie. Here's how it goes:

Here are the rules:
1. get tagged

2. list five things that have not been revealed on your blog
3. tag five others (tag yourself if you feel the urge)

It's kinda hard to come up with five things I haven't already talked about that I would reveal here.

  1. I get out of ideas for my blog, sometimes, but have never seriously decided to quit blogging.
  2. Ichabod's grandfather died a month after my mother died. I e-mailed some of you, but never felt up to making a post about it. I really should write about Bob. He was a good artist and I should share him with you guys.
  3. I would like to visit Washington DC some day. Just haven't gotten to it yet.
  4. Ichabod just got a pair of day-glo orange Converse sneakers.
  5. One time when I was singing karaoke, totally sober, I chose a song. Then, after it started, I realized that I only remembered the tune to the chorus. I pretended the mike wasn't working. I mouthed the words, but no sound came out. The guys working the show were scratching their heads trying to figure it out. I never told them.

Anyone who wants to tag him/herself, go for it.
