Christmas post, with pictures and everything!

Hi, I know I've not been here much. I've been fine, just haven't been in the mood to post. But, for the first time since my mother died, in 2006, I felt like decorating for Christmas. I don't do a lot, but I do love the lights.

Last week there was a silent auction at work for charity. One of things on which I bid and won was a little silver tree. Tonight I bought some blue bulbs for it.

I decided to put the lights up in the area that was originally a front porch. It's kinda dark there so they show up nicely.

I hope the season is treating you all well. And I hope to get to all of your sites along the way.

Delightful Squirl! I'm so glad you blogged these pics. I, too, wish I could visit in person. But that's not an option, unfortunately.

Christmas blessings, my dear Squirl!

I love the blue and silver tree! I'm so happy to know that at last you felt like decorating.

Now then... please come here and help me get my ho-ho-ho ass in gear to do some decorating too.

Beautiful. I love the tree, and the blue bottle. We're not decorated yet. Like our sister, eclectic, I can't get my ho ass in gear.

Susie, hi there, sis! Thanks! This was a last minute "Hey I've finally figured out where I want the lights." Probably getting the $5 tree precipitated it. :-)

Cute tree and I think lights are my favourite part of the holidays as well. So glad you are doing well and getting into the Christmas spirit again. I haven't decorated yet and just might not. I don't want to do it if it feels like a chore.

Hi!

I'm glad that you are feeling like celebrating christmas a little bit more than usual. I put up our outside lights on a day that was "warm" during Thanksgiving weekend. It is so hard to do it when it is cold out and your fingers are numb!

I hope to do some inside decorating this weekend. :-)

I think your tree and lights are just terrific. I love lights. They are probably my favorite part of the holiday decorations.

Sweet! I just love the season...the sparkles, the colours, the tastes. Well, maybe I don't like the temps all that much...

Kranki, thanks! I don't want to if it feels like a chore either.

tshsmom, thanks so much!

Tweety, I haven't been much of a blog-friend lately. Thanks, I'll see about getting to that one.

SME, I'm with you on all of that comment!

What a wonderful tree! My kids think we have too much blue on our tree, but I'm pretty sure you can never have too much blue. I'm currently collecting blue bottles for a bottle tree (my husband thinks I'm nuts).

I'm glad you had the desire to decorate this year. If I didn't have the kids to spur me on, I'd probably skip quite a bit of it.

I put this in reply to you at my place, but thought I'd put it here, too: Your post actually helped me understand something about my ass-dragging this holiday season. I used to love shopping for my Mom — even though I complained about her being hard to please, with gifts, I still loved to try. Every year, my holiday season would kick off with the buying, wrapping and mailing of her gifts. This year, there was no kick-off, and I don’t think the season has really begun for me. And truth be told, I don’t know that it will, this year.

That is a beautiful silver tree. I like it. :)

And lights are always the best. I like all lights. I don't discriminate against Christmas lights. ;-)

Anyway, Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I love that little silver tree!

My decorations are up in the attic and my way to the attic is blocked by lots and lots and lots of boxes of books. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

I did buy a wreath from a local guy, but never put anything on it. I bought it for the pine smell, anyway...

I hope you are having a peaceful holiday season!
