Monday's Writing Assignment

I was at Susie's site today when she mentioned that Mrtl likes to give out Monday writing assignments. I don't usually do these but figured I'd put out a few thoughts on the topic of the week, Love.

Most people think of love as the chemical/sexual feeling between two people. But it's a MUCH larger concept than that. I love my family. I love Ichabod. I love the pets in my life.

There's a kind of love that I feel when see a blue heron soaring overhead, or hear a mourning dove's soft coo. There's the kind of feeling that fills me when I see a beautiful cloud bank. The same when I see a gorgeous sunset or a lush green field with bright yellow flag irises.

There's the love that is so strong among the bloggers with whom I converse on a daily basis. The love abounds here. Any time anyone is in trouble or hurting, the love just pours out from everyone's comments. The laughter that's shared is part of the love, too.

Okay, this was a mushy subject and that's all I'm going to do with it now. Thanks.

Damn...that was so sweet I don't know if I can say anything smartass about it.
Here's the deal: I'll be nice here if nobody expects me to write any posts about love. Does that work?

Hi Squirl. I visit your blog often and decded to would leave you a little blog love today. You are absolutely right about the love amongst bloggers. It's weird though, how complete strangers are so close to one another here in blogland.

squirl, the love of nature you describe, I completely get that. Here's a song that says it for me. I wish I had techno skillz so I could let you hear it, because it's beautiful, another by Chris Rice:
A purple sky to close the day
I wade the surf where dolphins play
The taste of salt, the dance of waves
And my soul wells up with hallelujahs

A lightning flash, my pounding heart
A breaching whale, a shooting star
Give testimony that you are
And my soul wells up with hallelujahs

Oh praise Him all His mighty works
There is no language where you can't be heard
Your song goes out to all the Earth
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

O cratered moon and sparrow's wings
O thunder's boom and Saturn's rings
Unveil our Father as you sing
And my soul wells up with hallelujahs

Oh praise Him all His mighty works
There is no language where you can't be heard
Your song goes out to all the Earth
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

The pulse of life within my wrist
A fallen snow, a rising mist
There is no higher praise than this
And my soul wells up
O my soul wells up
Yes my soul wells up with hallelujahs

I think those soul-overflowing hallelujahs are what you're describing -- yes?

I am also amazed, and in my native Hillbillian, "tickled" at the love in blogworld. I would not have thought it possible to care so much for strangers, and to feel so cared about by strangers. And non-bloggers can't possibly understand it, I don't think. It sounds crazy to the uninitiated. Hell, it IS crazy. But in a good way, a very good way.

Kitty, you're just so loveable,

Circus Kelli, welcome and I lug you too. :-)

Ladybug,thanks. Hugs to you too.

Effie, isn't this blog-love thing great? I never expected it. I just thought this would be some fun. It's waaaay better than I ever expected.

Mr B, I love that. Your gnome is the coolest!

August95, thank you for coming over and commenting. Isn't it wonderful how people have come together through the blogs for each other, the way we touch each others' hearts and most of us have never even met? You are in my prayers.

Bucky, you don't need to write a post about love. The love already shows through your posts. I know you'd love me with or without rum cake, but don't worry, I still intend to keep making it. :-)

Blogaholic thank you for stopping by and for commenting. It is hard to believe the little community of really neat people that have come together.

Susie thank you for the beautiful song. Yes, it is the hallelujahs. Nature is the physical manifestation of God, Yahweh, Allah, Universal Creator (choose one or add your own). The greatest love there is. I, too, am tickled by the fun, crazy way we all interact and have come together. I wouldn't have believed it until I experienced it. And yes, you're trained to know crazy. :-) It is, but it's a great kind of crazy.

Susie, that is one of my all-time favorite songs. I've only heard the Kathy Troccoli version, and it gives me chills every. single. time. Thanks for the reminder.

Well, Squirl and Susie, I've spent the last almost-an-hour trying to post that dang song on my blog, and finally figured out the file's too big. So now I'm frustrated and ticked off, and a little sad. I really wanted to share that.

And I can't get that hour back, either. HRMPH.

I definitely feel closest to God when I see something beautiful in nature.

It is great that you brought up the topic of blog love. The support I've received just astounds me. It really is something that people outside of the blog world seem to have difficulty understanding. I think it may be the best kept secret about blogging.

hugs to you
