Harvest Moon

Well, the moon will be completely full tomorrow. The full moon at this time of the year is called the Harvest Moon. I was out, without my camera, earlier when I could have gotten a picture of it before dark. As it is, I kinda like it with the black night around it. I makes me think of Jessica Rabbit's story.

Ahh this is the best time of year for lazy nighttime walks, and this moon is exactly the reason why.

I feel more peaceful at this time of year then any other. I love fall.

Jess, yes, it's not too cold out and the sky is very clear. I kinda thought it tied in well with your werewolf story, too. :-)

I love this time of year, too. And I do love the full moon.

I see the moon, the moon sees me.
God bless the moon and God bless me.

That's actually written on one of the prints hanging on LG's wall in my post today :)

Susie, thanks for including the poem. I loved your post today. Full moons are so cool.

I probably would have had to comment even if you hadn't been here, Susie, because I like the word verification:

ditfeap

I dunno why I like it. I just do.

There's something nice about the moon in fall. Especially when you're snugged up with someone nice underneath it.

When I was little some of my favorite bedtime stories had to do with the moon, I loved this mouse and moon book I had, Harold and the purple crayon, Night noises I believe it was, a book with a little mole and a guy who were buddies.. I have some great kids books now that I read to my nieces that are nighttime related with lots of great imagination in them and it makes me so happy to read to them.

My niece tells me every time I see her how someday she is going to go to the moon, she used to ask us to get it for her, now she plans to grow up and buy airforce one and fly there, she tells me all the time, when she sees it in the sky she gets so excited...

Plum! You're back! Yay, we missed you. I hope the move went well. I'll have to check out your blog today to see if you've had time to update.

Jess, of course, nighttime is your time. Some kids' books are very well written. That's where I began my love of reading. :-)

I love that your niece wants to go to the moon. Maybe she will someday, who knows?

Your word verification, isn't that the name of a character on the old Barney Miller show?

Now was there howling? It is only really a harvest moon if there is some howling.

Blogger Squirl said...

Kranki, the only howling I heard was my own bitching because I'd left my camera at home. But, at least, I did get the later, darker pictures.

I like Susie's poem too, but I learned it as a song when I was little:

"I see the moon and the moon sees me. The moon sees somebody I'd like to see. God bless the moon and God bless me. God bless the somebody I'd like to see."

There are more verses, too, but I just wanted to say that's a cool picture of the moon!

Thanks, Eclectic. I never learned that song. Sounds like a great kids' song, though.

Susie, I blove you, too. You're my sister. I get much more teasing from Bucky than anyone here ever gives me. :-)

Kitty's been busy the last few days. She'll be back.

The moon poked through black clouds here last night. It highlighted the lights/darks, roundness of the clouds beautifully! Shoulda taken a pic; what a dummy!

Wonderful shot of the moon. The only thing I regret about seeing that harvest moon is the cold is coming and I have to put my toe nail polish away. :(

Oh I am a full moon lover, and the Harvest Moon is wonderful. Okay I am going to get korny here. . . but what a full moon reminds me of is that we are all seeing the same moon no matter where we are. Told you, korny. :)

tshsmom, I get mad at myself when I miss a camera chance. There were no clouds for me Friday night. Probably would have been a cooler picture if there had.

August, I know what you mean. Cold weather isn't my favorite either. Thanks!

Jess, it should be on my profile now. Just in case you needed it faster I sent you an e-mail. :-)

Nanina, I sometimes think the same thing. I think it's neat.

And I have a word verification that is worthy of Bucky

I like fall best because I bitch least during that month. I have less high temps to bitch about. I have less ice and slush to bitch about. Granted, it's only a tiny bit less...but hey.

Mr B, I can see, living in KY, why you'd feel that way. Summer's pretty hot there and winter is not as crappy as it is in MI.

Bucky, you got to see it rise and be all orange? Dang, I didn't catch that. Yeah, I think the full moons ought to stay in the sky where they belong. :-)

Skirry, woo-hoo!

When the moon is red as blood
and the stars are set just right, look up to the north star
then turn your head, jes slight--
that's where ye'll find my treasure,
Yes, this tale is true,
but if ye tell another soul
I'll cut you right in two!

on another note--me word verification is meant for a guy--"tpfar" or "t' pee far", I can't do that unless I use this little cone thing I saw once....

Cool pic, and it really does go with Jessica Rabbit's story quite well.

Can't wait to see more ghostly stories being written!

Thanks, Sierrabella! I'm looking forward to more stories, too.

Tardist and I shared a bedroom when we were really young and we would always scare ourselves with the ghosts we thought were around. And that wasn't even the house that Bucky wrote about.

Eclectic, a parrot is a part of a pirate's day. Parrot is practically pirate. No Uncle Kracker here. I do have some Premium Saltines, though.

lovely. The zoom on my digital never stretches far enough to do moon shots.

Me and a friend of mine had a debauched moonlit picnic on the lawn the other night - if it's nice weather I love being out at night (provided no werewolves are around)

Bucky, you listen to Uncle Kracker, eh? I wish I'd gotten to meet your parrot. She sounded sooo cool.

Song, you had a debauched picnic in the moonlight? Please watch out for the werewolves.
