Squirl's Nest

A post about nothing, really

Okay, I'm tired of seeing an old post up, too. I've been kinda busy lately and just haven't made enough time for blogging. On the up side, I've almost finished the 11th book in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Yes, this is book eleven and there were two prequels. When will he ever conclude this story? When people, like me, get tired of buying expensive hard cover books as soon as they come out because we just HAVE to know what comes next in the story. I'm still buying, and he's still writing and selling.

I saw Annie tonight but I have no pictures. she's about twice as big as when I first met her. She's getting more bitey, too. But she also has so much more expression in her little puppy face. I'm still in love.

Hope everyone has had a great start to the weekend!

Thanks, Susie. I'm so glad somebody is actually coming back after I've been so negligent. :-)

squirl-bob - I HAVE NO PLANS FOR THE WEEKEND! I'm so excited. I can't WAIT to get started on doing abso-freakin'-lutely NOTHING.

I never have never learned how to properly read a science fiction series. The closest I ever got was Phillip Pullman's Dark trilogy....I loved 'em.

Yeah, we're still weathering the 'bitey' stage over here... but he's still so dammit sweet that we can't stand it! Bon weekend, Squirly-bob!!

You're not alone. We're all slowing down a bit lately. :(
Oh boy, Annie's at the stage where they'll spend a FORTUNE on rawhides!

Jim, doing nothing is quite often my idea of a great weekend. Ichabod and I are considering a vacation this spring where we go someplace that's warm and bring lots of reading material. Oh, and it has to have high-speed wirless internet, of course. I don't read many of these series anymore but I started this one back in the early 90s, assuming it was going to be a trilogy. Ha!

Eclectic, it's so hard to train a dog not to be bitey, but it's probably even harder with little kids around. They usually encourage bad doggy behavior because it just seems like so much fun. But, bitey or not, those puppies are sooooo sweet.

Mr B, mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maximia culpa. Sometimes ya just gotta. Then it's hell catching up.

tshsmom, I hate it when I get that busy because I really love this little neighborhood we have here. And, yes, she's really liking her rawhide toys a LOT. :-)

The ELEVENTH book. I hadn't realized it was quite that many. geesh. I swear I'll need Cliffs notes for them if I ever want to get back to that series again, because I've forgotten so much.

Well, I hope this one has been better. Is there an end in sight? May the 12th book actually be the end? It seemed that for a while, each book finished with Rand killing off one of the I forget-their-names (forsaken? maybe?) big bad evil people. How many of the bad people are left?

Have a good time finishing the book! Sounds like a perfect weekend to me. :-)

Danielle, I was just over leaving a comment on your site. :-)

Yes, the Forsaken, though they call themselves Chosen. I can't remember how many are left yet. I sure hope he can finish this thing up with the 12th book. Can't say it hasn't been interesting but with so many characters and story lines going it's hard to remember sometimes. And I don't have the time to start the whole thing over from the beginning again.

Some really bad stuff has happened to Rand in this one. He's still there but I won't say that he's still whole. Maybe when you're not so busy you could get caught up with the series. It's probably easier to do when you can read straight through from one book to the next.

Have a great weekend Squirl . . . puppies grow so fast. I am not sure what it is with this squirl-bob thing. I do know when I see what brings people to my site with the search eng. It says things like barking-squirl, squirls nest. But I have yet to have a squirl-bob . . . :)

You should feel sorry for Squirl this weekend. At this very moment, I'm holding her down and farting in her face.

I love books in a series like that. I had read the whole 'left behind' series, now there are 2 prequils, and i've read one of them. I'm too cheap to buy in hardcover and the waiting list at the library is horrendous!

Hope you have a great weekend too!

Nina, thanks, you have a great weekend, too. You'll have to ask Jim about the Squirl-bob thing. He's says it's my southern name.

Bucky, gawd, I'm gasping for air, let me up, let me up!

Lawbrat, we were commenting at the same time. The only series I've started in recent years is Harry Potter. I love to read them but can't always find time to keep up. You have a great weekend.

Hmmm. If I were Robert Jordan and had a following of folks who buy his hardcovers as soon as they’re published, I’d never complete the story!

Thanks for the weekend wishes! Mine has begun with a trip to the vet for Alex—he’s OK—and I have just heard the forecast that the “dusting” of snow we were to get is now to be an accumulation of 3+ inches.

Thats so funny! Same time!

Brennen has read all the Harry Potter series, and i'm afraid to start it. Of course, he has all the hardcover books.
Gifts for birthdays, christmas, or whatever- he gets books or gift cards for barnes and noble. I did a post actually, of when the latest book came out and we were at the store at MIDNIGHT!!! There are pics and everythings.
If you want to check it out, here's the link:

Good morning! I mean, afternoon.

I hope you have a good weekend as well.

I don't think I could ever start on another series unless they are completed. Harry Potter is killing me. Let me know when those books are finished and then I'll read them. ;)

Squirl, I hope you are surviving over there with Bucky! Sounds like a TERRIBLE weekend to be underneath someone's butt! ;)

hahaha

Must be a good series if you're still reading it though...does he do books on tape? I've been listening in the car to Angela's Ashes and other really well written works, and I'm LOVING it--not as good as reading but still great!

xxyby---the chormosomes were working overtime in this one!

Bucky, try the dutch oven technique. The covers really provide invaluable ass-istance in restraining the... uh, victim... I mean, recipient of the noxious fumes. Sorry Squirl-Bob... just trying to help Bucky get the most out of her weekend.

SS Nick, yeah, if he can make all that cash then why not. We've got snow here but I'm not sure how much it's supposed to end up being.

Lawbrat, thanks! I love the pictures. I know why your son loves the series, HP is great. And you're a great mom to take him to the midnight bookstore opening.

Amber, I was able to read the first three HP books before I had to start waiting for them. And I survived Bucky's farting, really I did. And I love your word ver. tee hee

Effie, I don't know if any of them are on tape. It's hard enough to follow in type, I don't know how tough it would be on tape. And watch those chromosomes. :-)

Eclectic, wait, this is my blog. You're supposed to help ME here, not Bucky...

I get grumpy because Robert Jordan is in like his mid seventies and i'm so scared he'll die before he finishes the series. THat would just be damn unfair, dem books was expensive.

Song, those books were expensive. He'd better finish them before he kicks the bucket, doggone it. I just wish he'd finish. Another series I've read that I don't ever plan to see finished is Earth Children by Jean Auel. It took something like ten years for book four to come out. Sheesh.
