Last installment of vacation postings
Well, it's taken me long enough, but this is the last post about my vacation. We went to the Air and
Space Museum. It was pretty cool. Here's the whole set.
The first thing we saw was the Moon Rock.
I think the sign is more impressive-looking than the rock. If you can't see then check it on Flickr, I've put a note on it.
Then there were lots of cool things, from hot air balloons to space stuff.
The previous shot was a bad angle. This one lets you see the color better.
This is from the Wright Brothers exhibit. This is not a really a Wright. It's just a dummy.
Then there was the National Gallery of Art. Here's what I posted of that set. I thought I put more out here, but, I think we were museumed out and I don't think I got a good variety. But here are a few.
The room was really dark, so this photo is a bit grainy. It's also a bit off-center. But I really liked the Mercury statue, so I posted it anyway.
I seemed to like Rodin.
Then, for our next to last night, we had the wonderful privilege of dining with Here Today Gone Tomorrow. We met in Alexandria and she treated us to a great Puerto Rican vegetarian meal and MOJITOS! Is was a really fun evening.
On our last night I finally met my sister, Susie Fairchild. She and Jif treated us to crabs. Yes, that's right crabs. As the batteries died in my camera early on that night this is the only photographic evidence I have of the evening.
Thank you to all of you who've hung in with me while I finally got my act together and got all of this posted.

Between us, we've got a pretty impressive list of bloggers well met!
(Well, your list is longer, but I DID get to eat at Long John Silver's with Circus Kelli that one time...)
Wait. You got to see an out-of-this world rock shaped like a butt, and got the crabs? You live on the edge!
Are you saying our sister is crabby? ;) What a great shot of HTGT with you two!
Bucky, it is so much fun to meet bloggers IRL. But I did not have the honor of joining Kelli at Long John Silver's.
Mr B, I AM the edge.
E, well, if she is then is because they have so many good crabs out there. And I was fun to hang out with HTGT, too. I'm glad we got that picture. Too bad I didn't have backup batteries for my camera when we met Susie and Jif.
Wow, I'm so happy you guys got to meet! Well, 90% happy, 10% jealous. :)
I've always enjoyed Rodin too.
That mallet looks like a lot more effective tool for opening crabs than the little tools most restaurants give you. ;)
I love when museums let you take pictures. some don't, and then it is really hard to remember the pieces you liked the best unless you buy postcards.
I like the air and space museum a lot. And your photos remind me of why.
Lucky you! Fabu vacation, double blogger meet-up, cool museums and slightly pornographic sculptures. Awesome!
That was such a fun night! I am so happy I got to meet you both; it was really wonderful. (Especially the hug. I loved the hug!)
That is so awsome that you got to meet a blog friend. I have a few people I want to meet yet in the coming year. I dont know yet who and when.
Ern, I thought I left a comment on this. I do remember thinking that living close to the middle of the country helps when meeting bloggers. :-)
tshsmom, Rodin is good. And those mallets really did the job.
Danielle, I'm in trouble when they won't let me use flash. My camera is lousy without the flash. I'm glad you enjoyed the museum pictures.
Kranki, it was awesome. :-)
htgt, I feel the same way.
:-)
Tweety, it really is great.
I'm torn between cracking a "It's not a Wright, it's wrong." joke or "I drove all the way to Susie's and all I got were crabs."
Hrm... decisions, decisions.
I'm just so happy/jealous that you had so much fun it's lasted through all these tough times :-)!!! Now that's a real vacation! Miss you sis!
Lucky, lucky you...sounds like quite an adventure. So glad you had time to post the photos.
chchchchia made me laugh. I'm so glad we got to be part of your vacation. This is ridiculously premature, but we're thinking about taking some special vacation for my 50th bday next year, and we're talking about Mackinac Island. If so, maybe you could come up and see us, or we could see you on the way home, or some such? It would be in the summer, not at my actual bday. Too cold. Just a thought.
I don't know about you, but those crabs look mighty angry that they are about to be malleted!
Chia, I miss you, too. :-(
Laurie, it was so much fun.
Susie, I'm so glad you were able to get out that night and meet us. It was great. I so hope that you vacation here so we can meet up again. :-)
Lady M,yeah, they do look pretty ticked off don't they. :-)
